Our privacy policy is very simple. It is simple because we don't have any of your personal data, and we don't do much with the data we do have. The policy set out on this page describes all of the data we hold about our visitors.

Access Logs

As is standard practice with web servers, we collect some data in an access log. The access log is a basic text file that keeps track of which pages have been visited and when. The log has no idea who the person is who visited what page, all it contains is the date and time a page was visited, the response code (e.g. whether it was found [200], not found [404] or whether there was an error [500]), the path/page visited and the IP address of the visitor. None of this information allows us to identify you.

The logs are kept for a set amount of time before they are overwritten on a cycle.

We keep these logs in case something goes wrong with the website, as may help us track down the issue. Most web servers keep these logs, as most web server software comes pre-configured to create them.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a tool we use to understand what pages are most visited on the website. It gives us aggregated and anonymised information about our visitors. It doesn't tell us who visited, or give us information on individual specific users, instead of clumps them all together to try and give us an idea of what's happening on our website.

As an example, it might tell us that 500 people visited a certain page on our site all from Facebook yesterday. It won't tell us who those people are or what they were doing on Facebook. It will tell us, on average, how long those people stayed on the page before leaving.

Google Analytics sets some cookies, which you can read about on our cookie policy page.

Google AdSense

Google AdSense is used to show ads on the website. We use those ads to pay for our hosting and our time created and maintaining the website. Depending on whether you consented to use cookies or not Google AdSense may track some information about you. Usually this is for reporting, so they can tell us what pages have the most clicks, and so they can serve you better and more relevant ads.

Google AdSense sets some cookies, which you can read about on our cookie policy page.
